Lighten Your Skin Naturally  

Lightening the skin is a common practice these days and there are a variety of different reasons that someone might opt to try it. Some of the reasons for lightening the skin include excessive exposure of the skin to the sun, skin to skin contact darkening (e.g. thighs rubbing together), peer pressure, and celebrity influence.

There are many methods, creams, and medications on the market that claim to lighten the skin, but there are natural options available as well. Keep in mind that using natural methods lessons your chances of side effects or complications.

There are different natural methods of lightening the skin depending on what part of the body you wish to lighten.

The Face

The most common part of the body that people try to lighten is the face. Not only is the face the most visible area, but also the most likely to darken due to sunburn and tanning, inadequate care, stress and many other factors.

Using lemon: this is the most common fruit for lightening the body. Lemons can be used whole by slicing them in half and rubbing them all over the face, or by squeezing out the juice and using a cotton pad to apply it.

Using rice powder and milk: make a mixture of rice powder and milk to form a paste and apply it to the entire face. Leave this on your face for 15-30 minutes and then wash off with warm water. Apply a mild moisturizer after this process.

Using tomato: Steam your face first then take a mixture of tomato and granulated sugar and use it as a scrub. Afterwards, rinse your face in warm water and apply a mild moisturizer.

The Elbows and Knees

These areas can be lightened using lime juice. Apply the lime directly to the desired area and leave it for about 15 minutes. You may feel a slight stinging, which lets you know that the lime is working. After 15 minutes, rinse with warm water, and apply a mild body lotion. This process should be done at most 3 times a week because of the harsh effect of the lime juice.

Between the Thighs

Before you can focus on lightening the skin between your thighs where they rub together, you must first focus on stopping the rubbing by decreasing the size of your thighs. Losing a little weight and toning your thighs will provide more of a gap between them so that they no longer rub together.

After you have toned enough to prevent them from rubbing together, apply raw potatoes to the affected area for 15 minutes per day. When the 15 minutes are up, just wash the potato off with water. You can use this method daily until you get the results that you want.

These are some of the best natural ways to lighten your skin. Although they may not work for everyone, these methods won't break the bank, and there is little to no chance of side effects or harmful skin reactions. Definitely worth a try!
